«People are just as wonderful as sunsets if I can let them be. In fact, perhaps the reason we can truly appreciate a sunset is that we cannot control it. When I look at a sunset as I did the other evening, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a little on the right hand corner, and put a bit more purple along the base, and use a little more pink in the cloud color." I don't do that. I don't try to control a sunset. I watch it with awe as it unfolds. »

Humanistic support with a person-centered approach

I’m Rossella Calabrese, a humanistic integrative therapist in Barcelona. I offer in-person and online support in English, Spanish and Italian.

I trust in each person’s capacity to grow and find their own resources when the right conditions are present. Therapy can offer those conditions through a relationship based on acceptance, empathic listening and congruence, where you can explore your own experience and inner world. From there, you can gradually come to know and accept yourself more fully, with greater freedom to be who you already are.

In therapy, we explore what you feel, what happens in your body, your history, your relationships, and the ways you have learned to respond to what happens in your life.

Some parts of our experience can be difficult to approach on our own. In therapy, we can explore them gently, at your own pace and without forcing anything.

You don’t need to understand exactly what’s going on or know what you want to change. We can start with what’s present for you right now: how you’re feeling, situations or difficulties that keep coming up in your life, something you don’t understand, or simply a feeling that’s hard to put into words.

In their words

«I had never felt so connected to myself, not even through yoga or meditation. Through our sessions, I learned to listen to the part of me that had been asking for attention for years. Most importantly, I was able to make peace with periods of my life that I had struggled to leave behind, and to do so calmly, one step at a time. Rossella has been supporting me for several months now, and I consider this journey one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. » — J.P. Translated from Spanish
«Rossella taught me that every part of me has meaning and value, that there is nothing to discard and nothing wrong with any part of me. She taught me not to judge, but to listen, to make space for what I feel, and to hear what that painful emotion has to say — the emotion I had previously wanted, by any means possible, to tear out of me.Rossella opened me up to a new way of seeing things: there is nothing to tear out, but rather to integrate. Every part of us, even the most uncomfortable one, has a deeper meaning that reveals itself when we listen to it. » — D.
